DECA Newsletter # 31 provides details on the 99th National USA Decathlon Championships held at Drake University in Des Moines. 25 year old Zach Ziemek/adidas (left) rand up a nifty 8294 point score to erase, by a scant 3 points, Ashton Eaton's name as the Drake stadium record holder. His stadium record in the discus broke a close meet open. Solomon Simmons/unat and Harrison Williams/Stanford, were 2nd and 3rd. DECA Newsletter #30 provides first day coverage of the 99th USA national decathlon title meet being held at Drake University, Des Moines, IA. The top 5 --Zach Ziemek (left), Steven Bastien, Solomon Simmons, Harrison Williams and Tim Ehrhardt were all bunched within 110 points of one another heading into day two which promised better weather than the overcast, rainy first day. DECA Newsletter # 28, Wichita State Captures Annual Webb Cup

DECA Newsletter # 28 announces the news of the 2018 Webb Cup winner, Wichita State University. Congratulations go to 18th year head coach Steve Rainbolt who had a nine man decathlon roster, 8 of whom scored over 6000 points, 3 scored over 7000 points and Cheney, KS senior Hunter Vieth posted an eye-opening 8046 score. The Shockers tie the record for most points (31) accumulated in the scoring rubric. The Webb Cup, named for (now retired) University of Tennessee coach Bill Webb, honors institutions which produce both decathlon quantity and quality scores at the collegiate level. DECA Newsletter #27 provides 2nd day coverage of the 49th NCAA D-I decathlon from historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. 21 year old Kentucky senior Tim Duckworth captured the crown with an eye-opening 8336 effort. The challenge to Duckworth's dominance faltered when Stanford's Harrison Williams crashed in the highs after which Duckworth's lead was insurmountable. DECA Newsletter #26 offers coverage of Day One of the 49th NCAA D I decathlon from Eugene, OR. Kentucky senior Tim Duckworth, the indoor kingpin, is attempting to add the outdoor title to his resume and stands 174 points up in Estonian freshman Johannes Erm with a hot Harrison Williams another ten points back in 3rd. 21 of 24 will start day two.
